Since Amsterdam Airport serves as a hub for cheap transatlantic flights, you can be sure to find cheap car rentals as well.
Do NOT rent a car when you want to visit Amsterdam, because finding a parking space in Amsterdam is a true nightmare (I drove around for about 1 hour in order to park my car a 25 minutes’ walk away from a 1 star hotel…).
To visit Amsterdam, take the train. The Amsterdam Airport train station is located in the terminal’s central plaza and offers direct links to Amsterdam Central Station. This 20-minute service runs round the clock, departing every 15 minutes during the day.
How to get back to the airport?
If you want to drop of your rented car at Amsterdam airport, take the A10 Amsterdam ring road until it joins the A4 road towards Schiphol. Turn left after several kilometres and the E19 will take you into Schiphol International Airport.
